This scholarship is in her name. Because she never stopped showing up for people who needed her

The Heart Behind the Scholarship

My name is Pip Reed. June was my Granny.

I'm a clinical nutritionist. I specialise in functional diagnostics — finding the hidden hormonal, gut, and metabolic drivers that explain why women feel the way they feel, and why their bodies won't respond no matter what they try.

Every day, I work with women who have been dismissed. Told their results are normal. Sent away with a shrug or a prescription that doesn't touch the actual problem. Women who are exhausted, gaining weight they can't explain, losing themselves to symptoms they can't name — and being made to feel like they're the problem.

June would have had something to say about that.

She believed in showing up for people who needed help. She believed in doing the work — real work, practical work, the kind that actually changes something.

This scholarship is my version of that.

About June Comins OAM

She Never Made a Fuss.

June Comins aka Granny was born into a wealthy pastoral family in Yass, New South Wales. She had every reason to take the easy path.

She didn't.

When her marriage ended — not on her terms — she stayed on the farm. She raised three children largely on her own, with the quiet support of her family behind her. She later remarried Frank Comins, a gentle man who ran the local health food shop, and together they built a life rooted in community, service, and showing up for others.

June ran the farm. She put her children through private school. She did Meals on Wheels. She ran cake stalls for the Red Cross. She joined Walk for Life. She was the person everyone called. The person who always came.

She earned an OAM — the Medal of the Order of Australia — for her service to the community.

She lived to 101.

And for years, she walked around with near-zero iron levels — because her doctor had the results and never told her. And even if he had, she probably wouldn't have made a fuss about it.

That's what women do.

June left behind 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was my grandmother. And she was the best person I have ever known.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

A woman with long dark hair smiling while sitting at a restaurant table, wearing a red turtleneck sweater.

i have more energy, a clear mind, and stamina to execute more than I ever thought possible in my day-to-day life.

When I met Pip my body was in terrible shape. My gut, skin, and hormones were screaming at me. I suffered from stomach pain and bloating, rosacea, foggy head, had trouble sleeping without sleep aids, constant allergies, chronic headaches, body aches and anxiety. Pip took me through a gut, liver, kidney healing process and now, 4 months later I am a different woman. I sleep like a baby with no sleep aids. My rosacea and allergies are gone. My gut is no longer bloated and painful. My anxiety is at the lowest it has ever been in my life (and not because my life is not stressful). I have normal, easy periods. My headaches and body aches are gone. I have more energy, a clear mind, and stamina to execute more than I ever thought possible in my day-to-day life. But even more than this, I have learned how to take care of my body so that it can function like the well-oiled machine it is intended to be. Now, when life throws a curveball, I have the tools to recover fully.

I want to be clear, this was not an easy journey. It meant eliminating things I loved (although, amazingly I don't want them anymore). It meant having a very restricted diet or taking supplements that had annoying side effects for what felt like VERY long periods of time. It meant sticking with it even when at one point things got worse before they got better. It meant being willing to ask myself tough questions and then give myself tough answers. But it was worth it. And Pip was by my side the entire way. I always felt supported, encouraged, and like I was in good hands with Pip. Pip is kind, empathetic and a rare gem in this world.

I will also say that in the beginning I was dubious and skeptical. Who is this woman trying to get me to buy a bunch of supplements? But now, after experiencing the other side, I am not only a believer, but a proponent of functional and herbal medicine. THIS is how we should all be treated by our medical professionals. This is how the world heals.

WHY IT MATTERS

So many women suffer silently—burned out, stressed, often suffering debilitating hormone issues, feeling bloated, exhausted, and unsure where to turn.

You can help change that.

When one woman heals, the ripple effect touches families, workplaces, and entire communities. This is about more than wellness—it’s about legacy.
